The bed was comfortable and the breakfast was nice

The heating in the room didn't work and the bathroom stank of cigarette smoke. We had to open the bathroom window all night to get rid of the smell.

Lovely size room, very clean

Tv remote wasn’t working, reception said unplug tv then plug in.didn’t work, ordered one through the hotel app, still waiting for it 10 hours later ????‍️

Easy to find, large bedrooms , clean , good breakfast choice. Large parking area, very welcoming on arrival.

Constant door slams at night when trying to sleep. Why don’t people realise that by letting the door close behind them it bangs shut? …..it would be very beneficial if a sign could be put on the door to state this (in different languages would help to). No vending machines? No shops nearby so if you get the munchies your stuffed till morning.

Liked the hotel of its quiet rustic feeling while staying there it felt like a real home away from home.

The staff were friendly and helpful. The location was very convenient. The breakfast was good and the room warm in cold wet weather.

The first night we were given a room which was heated by a portable electrical radiator. The bathroom sink had no plug. We were moved after one night because the room fire alarm was not working although I suspect it wasn't working the first night either when the hotel was very full. We were moved into a new room in which the chair my wife was sitting collapsed because one leg was not properly secured. The screw was also loose on the adjacent leg. We complained to the management and were given a £15 rebate on our bill which I felt didn't compensate for our poor experience. We had stayed at the hotel several time before when it was a Park Inn and always had a good experience. This was very disappointing as my experience with other Mercure hotels was generally good.

Recently revamped. Smart and stylish rooms

Very expensive due to Six Nations influx in to Cardiff which may be understandable however no excuse for the fact that while probably 75% of guests were France supporters that weekend it was a bit embarrassing that no one on reception spoke French especially given it’s a French hotel chain!

Hotel room was lovely. Comfortable and staff were very helpful.

We had to wait for the bathroom to be cleared (toilet blocked) from previous guests. More staff needed.

Shower wasn't very clean, I think the pipes were block cause water was standing in the shower basin.

Room heater in one room was only blowing cold. The other room was blowing hit but with an awful egg smell. It took 3 requests to get an alternative heater delivered. 2nd night eating it took 20 minutes to get someone to come to table so we could order drinks. May try another hotel on next visit.

Literally cannot complain. The rooms are a decent size, very well decorated, clean, comfortable and contain everything you would need. Absolutely amazing prices for the quality of the room also.

Rooms were to a very high standard and fantastic price. We arrived 3 hours before our check in time and was still able to get in to our room.

The location is of course outside the city by a good distance. Not walkabe. But that is reflected in the price.

Food was great, staff were very friendly and professional. The room was very clean.

Unfortunately the rooms were very noisy in the evening, so sleeping was difficult.

Lovely staff, comfortable, large, clean rooms and nice bathroom/shower. Quiet and away from the city but not too far.

No music in the bar/dining area which made talking a little self-conscious

Room 312 had, on/off throughout day/night very loud banging and bubbling from above ceiling hot water boiler making it difficult to sleep. Would have affected nearby rooms as seemingly above corridor. Bedroom cleaning staff where aware but no maintenance staff on over weekend???? Both rooms 302/312 bathroom loud extractor fan permanently ON! No heating in bathrooms so shutting door to suppress noise made bathrooms very cold especially if needed during night. Room 302 easy chair had broken leg nearly causing scalding has holding hot drink when collapsed. (had been fixed ??? previously as different replacement screw to other 3 in leg) Second night returning from exhausting day both rooms key card failed to bedroom doors. Had to return downstairs to reception to get cards reset. That occasion had to use stairs (3 floors) as lift floor flooded. Others on 3rd suffering same fate. Headboard spot lights switches minuscule and far too bright with no means of dimming. Room 302 next to main corridor entrance door and lift. Noise from both. Particular problem was entrance door closing cause bedroom door which was not tight to jam to bang. Annoying when trying to sleep at night. Could not understand why either side of corridor entrance the two store rooms where not first in corridor instead of bedrooms. Breakfast room more like a works cafeteria with tables and chair very basic. Table too small as not enough room for four people with all dishes, cups etc. Chairs, Tables basic design. Door to kitchen continually banging very loudly every time staff went in/out. Pointed this out and advised it had been like that for a very long time. Why? Bacon was smoked. Very few like 'smoked' due pungent smell and taste. Fried eggs once put on servery soon became overcooked due heat lamps. Unappetising.
